Mudderling Day 2

Yesterday, I ran 4 miles.  Lots of hills.  I get the general idea from the mudderling workout that legs strength is important.  So hills it is.  I am going to try and stretch the distance out I. The coming weeks.  Goal is to build up to 10 miles on run days.

Mudderling Day 1

My first day as a Mudderling.  I have decided to complete one Tough Mudder event in 2014.  I am hoping to get some teammates to train with me and maybe renew some old friendships and make some new ones.  I will use this blog to chart my journey and garnish some support and advice.

So first of all big Kudos to my friend Steve La Marca whose inspired the title of this blog.

Second, exactly what is a mudder. Perhaps it is best to talk about the event, The Tough Mudder.  Tough Mudder events are hardcore obstacle courses designed to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, over one million inspiring participants worldwide to date, and more than $5 million raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world. But Tough Mudder is more than an event; it’s a way of thinking. By running a Tough Mudder challenge, you’ll unlock a true sense of accomplishment, have a great time and discover a camaraderie with your fellow participants that’s experienced all too rarely these days. It may be good to review a video as well.

So Mudderling day 1.  Today I did the mudderling work out found here.

Basic Training Plan for Tough Mudder

I read through it and at first I thought this will be to easy.  I should do the next level up.  But I decided to give it a go first and then decide.  Man it kicked my butt.  I run, but the anaerobic nature of these exercises taxed me on a whole new level.  I highly recommend everyone start at the mudderling level unless you have muddered before.  My goal is to do this workout 3-4 times a week and run on the off days.  Ultimately my goal is to move up to the next mudder level by the end of March.
